For the do-it-yourselfer these dining room table and chair plans are great! The table plans are 12 pages long and the chair plans are 20 pages long. They have exploded views and easy to follow instructions.
The cool thing about plans for something is that you can change the dimension to the specs you need, although I don’t recommend doing that with the chair plans.

Anyway the table has nice clean lines like the typical shaker or mission styles. The skirt has a nice subtle arch to that really sets it off. The overall dimensions of the table are 40 1/2” wide x 84” long x 30” high. At this size of a table you can seat 8 people comfortably.
The chairs have the classic mission look with slats below the seat, of course they are optional. The dimensions of the side chairs are 42“ high seat is 20“ high x 17“ deep x 19“ wide. With the arms the chairs are 42“ high seat is 20“ high x 17“ deep x 19“ wide (front) arms are 26 1/2“ high x 16“ long x 20“ wide (opening). The plans are offered with upholstered seats which I think is the best way to go unless you have the proper tools to “scoop out” the seat for comfort. A flat piece of wood just isn’t that comfortable.

If you have the time there is nothing more satisfying than building your own furniture. One of the best things about it is the you can pick your own wood, stain and top coat. All in all you get exactly what you’re looking for.
